28 February 2026 – The Heart – Part 3

Mark 11:23  “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.

The soul is the telecommunication transformer between the spiritual realm and our spirit. The soul/mind is the cheat battlefield of the devil where he bombards negative, pessimistic and fearful thoughts to discourage us. Thoughts of doubt first strike our mind. The human mind analyses everything logically and intelligently. Delving into google or ChatGPT to dissect a diagnosis will invite fear and doubt into the mind. “Doubt”, which is the result of intelligent analysis, sinks into the heart as “disbelief”. Disbelief will kill faith which resides in the heart. Doubt and disbelief will convince faith to evacuate the heart.

When we are hammered with doubtful thoughts in the mind, we must “guard our heart”. Defeat doubt by repeating the Word of God. Replace doubtful fiery arrows with the reassuring promises of God. When doubt says “you will never get a job in this market”, replace it with Psalm 1:3. Boldly speak to your soul and say, “I am a blood bathed child of God. I am a tree planted by the waters and I will yield my fruits in season. My leaves will not wither and whatever I do will prosper”.  If we fail to counteract doubt and disbelief, our soul will convince the heart that we are a failure.

Guard your Heart:

  1. Doubt: We must battle and win over the doubt in the soul/mind before it contaminates the spirit. Don’t let doubt sink from the head to the heart. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord (James 1:6a&7). Guard your heart from doubt.
  2. Discouragement: Fear and doubt gives birth to worry and discouragement. Encourage yourself in the Lord like David. Get back to your “gratefulness register” and recollect His goodness and praise Him for the victories in the past. Praise will stir our spirit to shake away discouragement.
  3. Double-minded: Discipline your mind from being pulled in two different conflicting directions. A double-minded man cannot expect God to intervene in his situation.

Guard your heart from doubt and disbelief.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to overcome doubt and guard my heart from disbelief. Amen.
