Luke 11:20 But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Jesus left His fingerprints and the signature God the Father in the miracles He did when He was on earth. “Finger of God” is a metaphor for the effortless power of God that drove out the demons. Jesus not only carried the presence but also the power or the manifestation of God’s splendour. His look, His touch and His figure left a signature of God in the broken bodies and bruised hearts.
Every time we witness the manifestation of God’s miracle working power, the kingdom of God has come. The repentance of a wayward soul, the healing of a chronic or critical illness, the hope in a despondent soul and the deliverance from drugs, demons or depression leaves the signature of God on the person. Signature indicates God’s ownership, authority and authentication on a person.
When the crowd witnessed blind eyes open, the lame walk and demons flee, they marveled and glorified God. When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God (Matthew 9:8). Miracles glorify God and leave the fingerprints and the Almighty God’s initials on the person who has received the supernatural touch from God.
A demonic attack, a dreadful diagnosis or depression will be broken by the finger of God. All we need is for the Lord to shake his little finger to drive out the diabolical forces. The heavens cannot hold the glory of God; hence the size of God’s little finger must be much much bigger than the universe.
Dunamis power flows from the finger of God:
- Hurl: When God shakes his little finger, the demonic prowlers will be hurled back to hell. They will come in one direction and tumble back to hell in seven!
- Hail: Heavens will hurl hail stones on the army of the wicked who come to derail our progress.
- Hedge: The hedge of divine fire around us has the fingerprints of the Almighty and the doors to our domain will not open to the biometrics of the demonic impostors.
As the Lord shakes His little finger towards our need, grace comes down and glory goes up.
Prayer: Holy Father, shake your little finger against the wicked and vile who rise up to hurt me. Amen.
