15 March 2026 – Signature of God – Part 4

Daniel 5:5-6 Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote. His face turned pale and he was so frightened that his legs became weak and his knees were knocking.

Belshazzar was the grandson of Nebuchadnezzar who conquered Israel and took captive the royal family and the nobility along with the smart and strong young men to Babylon.  Belshazzar, about 20 years after the death of Nebuchadnezzar, had a great banquet for a thousand nobles and when he was intoxicated, he ordered the golden goblets that his grandfather had taken from the Temple of the Lord to be used in the party. His nobles, wives and concubines drank from them and defiled the consecrated golden goblets by praising their handmade gods of gold. silver, bronze, iron, wood and stone and desecrated the holy vessels. Suddenly a finger appeared and wrote these words on the wall; “mene, mene, tekel, parsin”. Daniel interpreted these words as Mene meaning “God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end.” Tekel – “you have been weighed in the balances and found wanting.” Parsin – “your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians”.

The finger of God writes the destiny of all mankind. No one can boast about their achievements, affluence or aptitude. God will turn the wisdom of the crafty into foolishness in no time. “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6). The finger of God wipes out the arrogant.

The finger of God writes the verdict of all mankind:

  1. Pride: Puffed by arrogance Belshazzar desecrated the vessels consecrated to the Lord but the finger of God dethroned him.
  2. Penetrate: The same night Persians invaded and broke through the impenetrable walls of Babylon and overthrew Belshazzar.
  3. Power: Your future and my future are not determined by the authorities of the world. The courts of heaven transcribe the course of the blameless. Even the most powerful man of earth and all of hell cannot revoke the verdict of the King of kings. God has the final say on any situation.

The finger of God writes our destiny.

Prayer: Father of Splendour, thank you Lord for writing my future and sealing my destiny.  Amen.
