Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
The Lord’s favorite destination on earth is a place where we worship Him in Spirit and in truth. The Lord inhabits the praise and worship of His people. Hence it is important to be planted in a church and grow. Let us not neglect meeting together (Hebrews 10:25). We need a ‘home-church’ to where we belong.
The early church met every day in the temple courts and homes to pray and share communion together. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts (Acts 2:46). They met together with glad and sincere hearts not with grudging and sulking hearts. Their prayer meetings were powerful. The presence of the Lord was tangible and extraordinary miracles were daily ordinary occurrences. They brought heaven down when they prayed. After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly (Acts 4:31). They prayed with oneness and unison and the Lord empowered them with boldness to preach the Gospel. The Lord’s mighty presence was there and when the Almighty stepped into their prayer meeting the foundations of the brick building trembled.
The Lord God is attracted to gatherings where His name is praised and worshipped. Family prayers, fasting prayers and fervent prayers are God’s favorite destinations.
God’s Favorite Destination:
- Family Prayers: Family Prayers invite God’s presence, protection and provision into the home. Families that pray together have sound understanding and unity. Family prayers create the opportunity to share our issues, resolve misunderstandings and offenses before we go to bed at night.
- Fasting Prayers: Fasting prayer is one of the most neglected ministries in many churches however is the most important gathering. Fasting tunes our ears to hear God clearly and stand firm in the battles that we face. Fasting is not an option but a mandate to grow spiritually.
- Fervent Prayers: Fervent in the original Greek means “fire”. Fervent prayer of the righteous avails much.
God’s favorite destination is when two or three gather together in His name to worship Him.
Prayer: Dearest Holy Spirit, we will welcome you by praying together as families, friends and communities. Amen.
