22 May 2026 – Grace & Mercy – Part 2

2 Corinthians 4:13&15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

“Grace” is unmerited favour and the love of God towards us. Grace showers us with blessings that we are not worthy to receive.

Grace, the unmerited favour of God increases abundantly through thanksgiving. Gratitude attracts grace. Thankfulness in everything and a heart of gratitude is the key that unlocks the grace and the favour of God.  Grumpiness depletes grace but gratefulness increases grace. A posture of praise for the blessings that we enjoy, and an attitude of gratitude for the open and closed doors, multiplies grace.  “All things” in the above verse refers to the suffering and storms in Paul’s life; worship in the whirlwind multiplied grace in his life. A lifestyle of thanksgiving and praise floods us with abundant grace.

David praised his way from the sheep pen to the palace. The attitude of gratitude made the grace of God abound and the favour of God to flood his life. Grace put a crown on the head of a shepherd boy. At the fag end of his life, after he had accomplished all that God wanted him to do, David expresses his gratitude in an outburst of thanksgiving and praise in 1 Chronicles 29:10-19. “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand” (vs 14). He also gave generously from his personal wealth towards the building of the temple. Gratitude cannot remain silent.

Gratitude in our heart will be heard through the words we speak; it will be noticeable in our expressions and be marked by our generosity in time, treasures and tenacity. A grateful heart and a thankful mouth capture the heart of God. As thanksgiving increases grace abounds.

Gratitude attracts Grace:

  1. Gratitude: An attitude of gratitude augments God’s favour.
  2. Glory: As we give the glory back to God in praise and worship, grace and mercy descend from heaven.
  3. Goodness: Grace will make us overflow in the goodness of God and His favour will smoothen our path.

“Where praise abounds grace augments”.

“As Glory goes up, grace comes down”.

Prayer: Gracious Father, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Lord. Amen
