23 June 2026 – Truth – Part 6

John 18:38“What is truth?” retorted Pilate.

Headlines in the herald are only information–not necessarily the truth. News and media reports predominantly focus on negative events. Normally about 70-90% of the content focuses on conflicts, problems, crises, or risks which can be very depressing. However, the reported news is only information about what is happening around us. The truth is what the Word of God says about the situation.

For example, when the distressing news about wars, plagues and worldwide scarcity is announced a normal person would panic. The reported news are only human analysis and reasoning. A child of God does not rely on the world’s intelligence. Our source is the divine intellect from the Word of God which says, “In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty” (Psalm 37:19). The fact says that there is widespread famine but the truth states that it is time for God’s children to flourish. When the world stresses about poverty we will enjoy plenty!

What we see, hear and feel are only facts. Facts are statements made from experiences, observations, or evidence but truth prevails over the facts. The fact was real that Goliath was a massively built giant who was about 9 feet tall and could wear an armour which was about 60kgs! His spear weighed 7kgs. David on the other hand was a teenager about 5.3 feet tall who was agile, unarmed and unskilled. Facts and analysis may label David an underdog, but the truth was that the Lord in him was greater than the giant before him.

Don’t fumble over facts, truth overcomes facts.

Facts vs Truth:

  1. Dissect: Fearful facts must be dissected before they are digested. Swallowing all that the news media spits at us will make us anxious. Eat the meat and spit the bones. Do not munch on anything that instills fear- meditate on God’s Word.
  2. Decode: The news comes to us in the language of the world. Hence it must be decoded under the light of God’s Word.
  3. Decipher: As blue light boosts alertness and focus, the light of God’s Word will excite us even in a challenge. Crisis helps us decipher the power of God.

“Don’t let the analysis, predictions and news derail the truth.”

Prayer: Father, I am in your hands and I fear no evil.  Amen.
