Revelation 22:12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.
“God rewards those who seek Him diligently.”
Retirement benefits are essentially rewards for a lifetime of service and tax contributions. There are corporate retirement benefits and state benefits. These are rewards that were consistently accumulated over a long period of time. The same concept applies to our eternal rewards that are being deposited and amassed in heaven. Eternal rewards unlike earthly rewards cannot be used up or emptied. They remain inexhaustible, limitless and infinite.
Sacrificial service earns both earthly and eternal rewards. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life (Matthew 10:37). (1 time=100%, 10 times=1000% but 100 times=10,000%)! A sacrificial offering of our lives, wealth and relationships for the sake of the gospel has credits on both ends – on the earth as well as in heaven. The benefits we receive on the earth will diminish as we spend them but the rewards accrued in heaven are inexhaustible eternal rewards.
This is why Jesus said, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal (Matthew 6:20). Walk the extra mile, help the vulnerable, advice, counsel or comfort the disheartened to multiply rewards in heaven. Defend the destitute and help those who can never repay; be willing to sacrifice relationships and worldly pleasures to increase the divine bank account a hundred times/(10,000%). Expend worldly wealth to store up heavenly treasures.
Eternal Rewards:
- Inexhaustible: In heaven, there is only multiplication – no subtraction. Hence, our eternal rewards that we receive from the Saviour are inexhaustible.
- Incredible: The incredible divine interest structure cannot be compared with the worldly perishable benefits.
- Infinite: A glass of water given to a thirsty minister becomes livings streams in heaven. “If anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward” (Mark 12:42).
“Eternal rewards are inexhaustible, incredible and infinite.”
Prayer: Father Divine, help my eyes to be fixated on the eternal and not on the earthly. Amen.
