Colossians 3:2-3 “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
A rapid test (often called a RAT or lateral flow test) is a fast medical diagnostic tool that detects the presence of specific viral proteins in 10 to 20 minutes.
The fruit of patience is to stay calm and not get angry in difficulty or in a long waiting period. The test of patience is proven by perseverance to remain unagitated and serene. “May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance” (2 Thessalonians 3:5). Retaliatory words, actions, or reactions often fail the true test of patience.
“Live with an eternal focus, not an earthly fixation.”
A divine serenity when we walk through the dark unknown is the fruit of patience. The testimony about the Hero and the Father of Faith, is “Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised (Hebrews 6:15). The patience we exhibit manifests that we trust in the promises of God rather than the perturbing problem. The fruit of patience matures when we choose to believe in the Words of our Saviour more than the words of the people or the media. The doctor’s report was against the aged couple, Abraham and Sarah. Even IVF works only up to the age of 50, and this couple had well past medical possibilities. Yet Abraham trusted in the promises, than the probabilities and possibilities.
When we are put through the test of patience – choose to rest on the bosom of God. ‘Serenity in suffering’, ‘tranquility in the typhoon’ and ‘patience and perseverance’ in the waiting will mature the fruit of patience. We will pass the test of patience when the God of Peace rules our heart. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through (1 Thessalonians 5:23a).
Eternal vs Earthly Focus:
- Reactive: If a person is reactive and instinctive they lack patience. In difficulty they will fail the test of patience.
- Responsive: Responsiveness is to stop, think and bridle our mind and mouth.
- Reflective: Patience and perseverance coaching us to reflect the characteristics and Christ’s perseverance.
Pass the divine rapid test of patience.
Prayer: Dearest Holy Spirit, please direct my heart into God’s Love, Christ’s perseverance and to bear the fruit of patience. Amen.
