Colossians 3:2-3 “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
A rapid test (often called a RAT or lateral flow test) is a fast medical diagnostic tool that detects the presence of specific viral proteins in 10 to 20 minutes.
The evidence of divine hope is “peace” and “joy”. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13). The rapid test to prove that the “Hope of Glory” – Jesus is ruling our hearts and minds is the “fullness of peace” and “overflowing joy”. The Lord gives us ‘peace and stillness in troubling situations’, and ‘an inexplicable joy that no man on earth or no depressing demon in hell can steal’ in difficult circumstances.
“Live with an eternal focus, not an earthly fixation.”
The Apostle Paul gave us sound advice to receive and retain the divine peace that rules our hearts and minds. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6). Peace is an outcome of the choice not to be anxious about anything or anyone. Peace is the gentle inflow of God’s answers, to the outflow of our prayers and petitions. In our prayer communication with the Lord, we lay down our requests before the Lord and receive back peace as evidence of the acceptance of our prayer. Once we have prayed, if we are worried about the situation we will fail the test of hope. Hope believes beyond what it can feel, touch or hear. Hope is to believe that God is more than able to fulfill what He has promised in His Word. Hope is to believe that all things will eventually work out for our good and favour.
Eternal vs Earthly Focus:
- Happy: Happy is the man who puts his trust in the Lord (Proverbs 16:20b). Hope sustains happiness.
- Hallow: Hope helps us continually hallow the name of the Lord.
- Hopeful: Hope keeps our eyes fixated on the Lord.
Pass the divine rapid test of hope.
Prayer: God of Hope, fill me with joy and peace as I choose to trust in you. Amen.
