1 Peter 1:15–16 “Just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.'”
Kathryn Kuhlman (1907–1976), the American evangelist ended her messages with this thought-provoking statement: “Make room for the Holy Spirit and let Him have His way”.
The Lord Jesus made it very clear that the Lord our God, Elohim, Adonai, the Maker of the heavens and the earth does not desire to dwell in tabernacles built with precious stones and expensive wood. Golden and silver shrines are not his abode. “However, the Most High does not live in houses made by human hands” (Acts 7:48). He chooses to live in human hearts that welcome Him and make room for Him. The more room we give for Him the more power that will dwell in us and will overflow through us.
The integrity and the consecration of the heart will not only host the presence of the Lord but will carry His presence and manifest His power. Integrity will be tested in our private lives. It is not how we carry ourselves in public but our personal relationship with Him, our honesty when no one is watching us, our faithfulness at work and truthfulness to our word will measure our integrity.
The root word in Hebrew for “holy” is “kadash” which means “to be set apart” or “distinct”. “I the LORD do not change” (Malachi 3:6). Truthfulness, faithfulness and veracity is the very nature of God and those who desire to host the presence of the Lord must be integrous. Consecration is not easy – we will be criticized for our commitment to the Lord or ostracized and deserted. The integrous stand firm on their commitment and consecration.
Integrity:
- Calling: Integrity to our calling invites the presence of God. Our patience and perseverance in the midst of disappointments, ingratitude and disrespect make more room for the Lord.
- Conversations: Integrity and honesty in our words, conversation and commitments hosts and manifests the presence and power of God.
- Consecration: Integrity to live for the Lord even if it costs or hurts is true consecration that receives and hails the presence of the Lord.
The integrous make room to host the presence of the Lord.
Prayer: Welcome Dear Holy Spirit, I will make room for you to indwell in me and overflow through me. Amen.
