08 August 2023 – Praise Powerbank – Part 3

Numbers 21:23 When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand, it turned off the road into a field. Balaam beat it to get it back on the road.

Praise God for the divine detours. Not all detours are dreadful demonic distractions; it could be God’s divine redirection. Praise God for the detours as praise drives the demons away and praise recharges us spiritually during the deviation. Detours can be literal and spiritual. When your vehicle breaks down, when the traffic is diverted through a bypass or when you miss a flight or train, don’t get frustrated, just pull out your praise powerbank and start recharging.  A promotion that takes two steps for others could take five steps for us. The ladder of success is a steep climb. Don’t be annoyed, angry or astringent. Just revive your enthusiasm and energy with the powerbank of praise. If a diabolical force is causing the detour, praise will drive the demon away but if God is in the detour He will open our eyes to the reasons behind the detour.

Balaam’s donkey took the wrong exit and he was furious with the donkey. As we see people hitting their steering wheel in road-rage, Balaam struck his donkey. Unfortunately Balaam could not see what the donkey saw. The donkey saw the angel of the Lord standing with a drawn sword in his hand to slay Balaam. It is foolish to become angry about things that we cannot understand. Praise turns the rage and ranting into revelation and fury into foreknowledge. Many times we are led by peer pressure like Balaam. Balaam refused the request of Balak, (the Moabite king) the first time as the Lord did not permit him to go. But Balak sent more distinguished officials to persuade Balaam to go with him to curse the Israelites.

Praise the Lord for and through the divine detours:

1.     Danger: Praise God for the missed opportunity, for the diversions and the detours. God knows what we do not know with our limited human knowledge. We see prospects but God sees danger.

2.     Deliberate: Divine detours are God-led deliberations and not demonic distractions. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye (Psalm 32:8). God’s eyes can see what we cannot see. He can see into the next 6 months, 16, 26, 36, 46, 56 and 66 years. Allow Him to guide with His eyes that can see into the future. Deliberately praise God for the detours as God can see beyond the present.

3.     Detour: Detours are God’s ways of protecting us from dangers. When derailed just sit, wait and listen to His instructions. Praise turns the debilitating detour into joyful dancing.

The powerbank of praise comes handy in disturbing detours. Praise opens our spiritual eyes to understand the causes and effects of divine detours.

Numbers 22:33 The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If it had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared it.”

Prayer: Father in Heaven, when I can’t understand the detours of life, I will just praise you as you can see what I cannot see.  Amen.
