12 December 2023 – Thief – Part 3

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace, him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.

Peace is the thermostat of your soul. Peace stands on the foundation of faith. The demonic ‘peace thieves’ work persistently to remove the bricks of faith one by one until our trust becomes wobbly. They inject evil forebodings, financial forecasts or fear to steal our peace. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal (Isaiah 26:4). The peace thieves are very crafty; they don’t cause destruction by a violent attack. They sow seeds of qualm, uneasiness and doubt subtly and slowly but steadily until they weaken the foundation of faith.

The demonic peace thieves tempt us to sin and then torture us with shame. Sinful behaviour steals peace. Sin does not satisfy the wants of the soul. After being seduced to do the prohibited and indulge in profanity, the sinner loses inner peace. They feel empty and dirty. Demons would hound them with guilt, shame and condemnation. Judas the Iscariot lost his peace the moment he exchanged thirty pieces of silver coin for betraying Jesus. He should have had a party when he received the bribe but instead he committed suicide as he lost his peace. Judas threw the silver coins into the Temple and left. Then he went out and hung himself (Matthew 27:4). Many celebrities commit suicide at the crescendo of their career as popularity and pomp usurp their peace. Fame and fortune without Jesus only leaves them unfulfilled. Popularity turns into a ‘performance pressure’ and torments them with stress. Beware of the menacing steps of the ‘peace thieves’.

Excavate the demonic peace thieves from your life:

1.     Foreboding: Peace thieves enter into our mind as evil foreboding (Proverbs 15:15). They make their entry into our lives as a qualm, doubt or spasm in our soul. Then they advance until they occupy our mind with full blown nervousness, distress and depression. They come in as threats to our job and steal our joy. They drop seeds of seduction and destroy our meditation or they inflict us with stress about a problem and grip our heart with dread. Uproot an apprehension or anxiety by repeating God’s Word.

2.     Forecast: Peace thieves drop bombs of financial forecast, recession and paucity in our mind. They deform our thinking to ‘poverty mentality’ and fill the heart with fret about the future. Our security is not in our job, business or the government. It is not in our wealth or wisdom but in the hand of God that provides and protects. Defuse the dreadful fearful forecast-bombs of the peace thieves.

3.     Fear: ‘Fear not’ appears 365 times in the Bible for 365 days. Fear steals peace. Don’t open the door of fear from the diabolical intruders who will kill your joy and destroy your peace.

If the devil cannot stop you from being blessed, he will steal peace and stop you from enjoying your blessing.

Psalm 125:1 Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.

Prayer: Father God, peace is my inheritance and help me to be alert not to allow the peace thieves to steal my peace.  Amen.
