Romans 14:17 “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
“The ‘Kingdom of God’ is not a Christian cliché; it is the lifestyle of a child of God.”
There is fullness of joy in the “Kingdom of God”. Kingdom lifestyle is joyful and peaceful at all times. The joy of the Lord is contagious. It will overflow from our thoughts to our words and into our actions. Joy in the Kingdom of God is not erratic but static; it is not a feeling but a choice. “Happiness depends on happenings, but joy on Jesus”. The joy sparked by a new opportunity, promotion, or friendship often fades with time. These are seasonal spurts of happiness but joy that we draw from Jesus remains stable even during disappointments and difficult times. The source of the kingdom-joy comes from God’s Word. “When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.” (Jeremiah 15:16). Divine unquenchable and uninterrupted joy comes from the sap of meditating on God’s Word.
Hence, the ‘Kingdom of God’ is a lifestyle of ‘joy’ not a burdensome journey of jeopardy. Joy is the secret of our inner strength; “The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). Joy and gratitude are inseparable; so, remain grateful and thankful to overflow with joy.
Kingdom Lifestyle – Joy:
1. Unquenchable: Unquenchable joy bubbles from walking hand-in-hand with the faithful God. When God is magnified bigger than our problems, our joy-follow will be unquenchable.
2. Uninterrupted: Uninterrupted Joy comes from our confidence that God has the power to do what He has promised to us. Fear, anxiety and sorrowful thoughts interrupt the joy-flow of heaven. Reject burdensome thoughts that weaken faith and quenches joy.
3. Unwavering: Unwavering Joy is our inner strength and the living spring of our inner man. Three simple steps to enjoy unwavering joy is to feed, meditate and confess God’s Word until we are fully persuaded that our God is all powerful, faithful and omnipotent to do what He had promised.
Kingdom lifestyle is unquenchable, uninterrupted and unwavering joy in the Holy Spirit.
Make joy and peace your constant companions.
Prayer: Loving Saviour, I worship you for you are the source of my joy and strength. Amen.
