24 May 2026 – Grace & Mercy – Part 4

Genesis 39:5 The Lord blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the Lord was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field.

“Grace” is unmerited favour and the love of God towards us. Grace showers us with blessings that we are not worthy to receive and blesses those around us with His incredible favour. We are the carriers of God’s grace into our workplaces, supermarkets and the streets.

The grace of God followed Joseph into the house of Potiphar, into the prison and the palace. We see that the unmerited favour of God that rested upon Joseph made him a blessing to the house of Potiphar. The eyes of Potiphar, a heathen, was able to catch the special favour that was upon the Hebrew slave Joseph. Under the manager Joseph, both the barns and the bank account of Potiphar exploded. So, Potiphar left everything he had in Joseph’s care; with Joseph in charge, he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate (Genesis 39:5b). Potiphar’s only daily duty was to set the menu on the table! Even in the prison where he was unlawfully imprisoned, the favour of God was eminent. The Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favour in the eyes of the prison warden (Genesis 29:21), and he appointed Joseph in-charge of the prisoners. The favour of God could not restrain Joseph in the prison. It burst opened the walls of the prison and took him into the palace. Soon Joseph became the man-in-charge of Egypt. Favour facilitates elevation.

The “Grace of God” will empower us to excel in every sphere of life. His Grace will not only endow us with blessing beyond our imagination but will also flow through us and make us a blessing to those around us.

Become carriers of God’s Grace:

  1. Carrier: God’s grace carried Joseph from the pit to the palace. His favour is on those who walk in the fear of the Lord. God’s grace will promote us and will make us carriers of His favour.
  2. Conduit: The grace of God will make us conduits of His favour.
  3. Catchy: Grace will draw the attention of the world on us.

“The grace of God is transferable”.

Prayer: Compassionate Father, may your grace flow from me to those around me. Amen
