John 18:38“What is truth?” retorted Pilate.
Truth is what is real, accurate, or factual, as opposed to falsehood or illusion. However, truth can be twisted, suppressed and exchanged for a lie. In this world, we notice truth being suppressed to cover deception and dishonesty. The Nazi propaganda infiltrated the mind by “illusory truth effect” by constant repetition of false information. The “Big Lie” is often attributed to Adolf Hitler – “if you repeat a lie often enough it becomes the truth”.
The legislations such as “civil union” that legalized marriage between same sex or the law that formalized prostitution are “Big Lies” that have an illusory truth effect on people. The lie is repeated long enough that people no longer believe that such detestable acts are sin. The Bible calls those who believe a lie – “fools” (Romans 1:18-25).
There was a “Big Lie” that was framed against Joseph at the house of Potiphar. Potiphar’s wife falsely accused Joseph of attempted molestation and Joseph was condemned and imprisoned with the false evidence. There was a span of 13 years where Joseph waited for his vision to be fulfilled in Egypt. We are not aware of how long he served Potiphar and his duration in the prison. However, his time in prison was well over 2 years. Though the truth was masked and a case was fabricated against Joseph, when the Lord elevated Joseph to become the second-in-command next to the Pharaoh, Potiphar, who was the captain of the guard in the palace, would have reported to Joseph!
God’s Law over wrote the false lies that were framed against Joseph. Don’t let false accusations discourage you. “He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him” (Daniel 2:22). When we walk in the light of the Lord, nothing remains hidden. God will make the same people who falsely accused and defamed you to serve you.
Truth Triumphs:
- False: Lying tongue, false witness and a person who stirs up conflict among families and communities are detestable to the Lord.
- Fabricated: The fabric of the fabricated lies will soon tatter into pieces revealing the truth.
- Framed: Framed lies have no foundation.
“God will reveal the truth – wait for His verdict”.
Prayer: Father God, reveal the deep and secret falsehoods and establish the truth and justice for me. Amen.
