Matthew 17:20 “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”
“Seeds are God’s biological design for plant reproduction, survival, and propagation.”
Jesus uses a seed to expound the power and potency of “faith”. Though mustard seed is not the smallest seed on earth it is notoriously small – (about 1-2 mm). The power hidden in a seed to proliferate does not vary with the size of the seed. A mango seed that is about 3-4 inches big has the same potential to sprout and grow into a tree such as a mustard seed. Inside the tiny seed is trapped not only a miniature tree but thousands and thousands of seeds.
Faith in our hearts is packed with power to bring the promises and prophecies to fruition. Inside the hard overcoat of faith is trapped the potential to our prolific future. If the seed is in a sealed container, the seed will remain as a seed. The potential of the seed does not die, but there will be no growth. Hence the seed of faith must be planted in a good soil that is free from doubt and worry. Doubt is like the stoney soil that wilts faith and worry is like thorns that crushes faith.
Hence nurture your faith with water, nutrients and sunlight. A dry soil does not sprout the seed of faith. Reading, retaining and ruminating on the Word of God waters the seed of faith and expedites growth. Meditating on the Word and confessing the promises adds nourishment and strengthens our heart. The warmth of the sunlight is the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Germination is the process of a seed waking up from dormancy. Word and worship wake up the seed of faith.
The Seed of Faith:
- Promise: Activating faith is essential to bring the promises of God to fruition.
- Prophecy: The fruit of the prophecy is produced as we nurture the seed of faith.
- Power: Faith is like a tiny mustard seed that is packed with power to produce, reproduce and prosper.
“As the seed of faith grows the promises and prophecies are fulfilled.”
Prayer: Father God, help me to water, nurture and grow my seed of faith. Amen.
