Psalm 107:20 He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.
Methods are specific techniques or procedures used to collect and analyze data. Methodology on the other hand is the overall strategy, rationale, and theoretical framework that guides the choices and the use of the methods. The Lord God uses specific methods of healing, redeeming and saving us in specific circumstances; however, the overall methodology of God’s plan is not just a “rescue mission” but a plan of “complete restoration” to His eternal plan.
The sovereign plan of God for us is to live a purposeful and influential life and to inherit the eternal everlasting crown. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). God’s overall governing plan or methodology of redemption for humanity is to help, heal and honour. However, He might use different methods in the restoration process.
One of God’s most common methods of healing and redemption is by sending His Word. His Word is medicine that heals the broken bodies, and gives hope to the hopeless. His Word is packed with power. It breaks through the darkness of sin, sickness and shame, and forgives, heals and overturns humiliation.
Jesus sent a Word of healing to the centurion’s servant. The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed (Matthew 8:8). The powerpack words of Jesus shot through like a missile and healed the boy. His words travelled at a speed that was much faster than the speed at which the legs of the centurion could carry him. Before the centurion reached home, the Words of Jesus had already healed and restored the boy!
Don’t try to fix a problem with your wisdom. Just send His Word to the rebellious child, the raging health condition or the rapacious colleague.
He sends His Word and restores:
- Rebellion: God’s Word will bring the rebellious to repentance.
- Rough: The rough health conditions will be reversed by His Word.
- Rapacious: The greedy rapacious enemy will be defeated by His Word.
God’s Word redeems and restores.
Prayer: Dearest Jesus, I will pray, meditate and send your Word to my hopeless situation. Amen.
