Isaiah 35:8 And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.
The Way of Holiness is a toll road —it comes at a cost, but the price is worth it! The word holiness in Hebrew is “qādôsh” which means to be separated, consecrated, or dedicated to God. The roadbed on the Highway of Holiness is laid on the foundations of righteousness, meekness and nobleness. The rocks and prickles of offence, contempt or animosity are not found on the Highway of godliness.
Uncleanness is a diversion from the Highway of Holiness. The deception of the devil lures the simple and the ignorant into broadway. In the broad way, the unclean demonic marauders travel along causing collisions, confusions and chaos. “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it” (Matthew 7:13). The broad way is the easy way that looks glamorous and attractive. The broad way is the road that has no discipline, no rules and regulations. The Broadway is prone to accidents and crashes. Likewise, a life that has no self-control and submission is a life that is exposed to demonic attacks, cheap attractions and enticing traps.
The siblings Moses, Aaron and Miriam were leading the Hebrew slaves through the wilderness. The Lord God had chosen the youngest, Moses, as the Senior Pastor of the congregation. Though physically all of them were travelling through the same trajectory, spiritually, Moses was on the Highway and the siblings were on the broad way. Envy and arrogance distracted Miriam and Aaron to slander against their little brother Moses. They began to spread dirty gossip about Moses to spoil his reputation and were subject to the harsh rebuke of the Lord (Numbers 12). Choose the Highway of Holiness and travel in safety and security.
Three evidences on the Highway of Holiness:
- Selfless: Selfless love will be evident on the highway of holiness.
- Sacrificial: Sacrificial service will be the way of life.
- Sensitive: Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit is the light on the path of holiness.
Choose the Highway of Holiness.
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, guide me into the highway of holiness. Amen.
