Exodus 24:8 Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words.”
Antidote is the remedy that counteracts poison, harmful substances and its effects. It neutralizes, reverses and nullifies the effects of toxins, venom and its destructive influence. Antidote is the healing counterforce.
The blood sealed the deal. The blood covenant sealed the promises of God both in the old covenant and in the New. Moses built an altar and Israel offered burnt offerings to the Lord. Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people (Exodus 24:7), then he sprinkled the blood from the sacrifice to seal the covenant. The instructions, directions and protection in the Book of the Covenant, (the Ten Commandments and the detailed instructions of the Law), were sealed with the blood sacrifice of animals.
In the New Covenant, Jesus sealed all the promises in the Word of God with His own blood. Jesus took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians 11:25). The old covenant was made with the blood of animals but the new covenant is sealed with the blood of Jesus. By receiving God’s forgiveness through the blood of Jesus, we become eligible to inherit the promises of God.
The pagans cut themselves, roll on the ground and sacrifice the blood of animals to appease their gods; however, all we have to do is come under the new covenant in faith and receive God’s forgiveness, healing and favour. Partaking in the communion is the renewal of our obedience, love and surrender to the Lord. Every time we partake in the bread and wine, the communion table, there is a transfer of the DNA of Christ Jesus.
The Blood is the antidote:
- Forgiveness: Communion seals our forgiveness and hides us behind the cross and Christ (Colossians 3:3).
- Favour: The new covenant, the blood of Jesus unlocks favour of God.
- Foresight: The blood helps us to see beyond the past mistakes and the present uncertainties into the promised future in the new covenant.
The blood seals the promises of God.
Prayer: Dearest Jesus, thank you for your precious blood that sealed the promises of God. Amen.
