Colossians 3:2-3 “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
A rapid test (often called a RAT or lateral flow test) is a fast medical diagnostic tool that detects the presence of specific viral proteins or antigens from a sample in 10 to 20 minutes.
A quick conversation can reveal the condition of the heart. Godless vision fades. When the Lord God is the center of our life, our visions, purpose and goals will be fixated on things above and not on the earth.
“Live with an eternal focus, not earthly fixation.”
Our reactions to blessings will reveal our ambitions and the determinations of the heart. It is important to be thrifty and good stewards with money, wealth and possessions. Jesus spoke more about money management than any other topic yet, if our focus is obsessed on worldly wealth the Bible calls us fools! There was a rich man who had an abundant harvest Then he drafted a plan to tear down his existing barns and build bigger ones to store his surplus gains so that his financial future might be secure. The surplus that he enjoyed became his security. His financial stability made him forget the Giver and the Source of all gifts. He foolishly said to himself, “Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ (Luke 12:19). God heard his thoughts. “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ (vs 20).
It is foolish to become secure with our properties, pounds and promotions. Anything that we can see, touch and feel has an expiry date on it. It will perish! Even non-tangible assets will diminish and vanish. Being good stewards of our finances is wisdom; greediness is foolishness.
Eternal vs Earthly Focus:
- Touch: If the blessings that we see, feel and touch make us happy we are earthly minded.
- Tangible: Anything tangible is perishable. Don’t attach importance to land, houses or gold.
- Test: Those who boast about their worldly treasures are fools!
Pass the divine rapid test of properties, pounds and possessions.
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, help me to keep my heart and my mind from being obsessed with petty perishable possessions. Amen.
