08 November 2026 – Hosting His Presence – Part 4

Isaiah 66:2 “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.”

Kathryn Kuhlman (1907–1976), the American evangelist ended her messages with this thought-provoking statement: “Make room for the Holy Spirit and let Him have His way”.

Ms. Kuhlman rejected all titles. She preferred to be addressed as the handmaiden or a yielded vessel rather than a “faith healer”. “The greatest power God can trust is a humble spirit” – Kathryn Kuhlman; the price of the power is the person. Humility is the red carpet that welcomes the Holy Spirit. Humility is the reverential fear of the Lord. It is an ardent love for the Lord that is devoted to listen, obey and serve Him above all else. Humility is the fear of the LORD; its wages are riches and honor and life (Proverbs 22:4). A humble person totally surrenders to God’s ways and refuses to be stubborn to have their way. A humble person is committed to submit to God’s Word and will never slack or give excuses to obey. A humble person has a subservient servant heart to love God and serve people selflessly.

The Bible testifies that Moses was the meekest man on the face of the earth. Now Moses was a very humble man, more so than any man on the face of the earth (Numbers 12:3). Hence, when a slander spread against Moses, the Lord took it personally and reprimanded the slanderers. Daniel passionately submitted to the ordinance of the Lord and did not allow the king’s decree to stop his prayer routine or worship. He enjoyed God’s presence not fearing the mouths of the hungry lions. Hence the presence of the Lord on him shut the mouths of the lions and subdued his enemies. Humble hearts make room for the triune God to make their abode in them.

Humility:

  1. Submit: Submit to God’s Word and don’t be swayed by the advice of the world.
  2. Surrender: Surrender to God’s will even if you have to be thrown into the lion’s den. God will save you from the rapacious devourer.
  3. Subservient: Devote yourself to serve God by serving people selflessly with a subservient heart.

Humility makes room to host the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Father in Heaven, come and make my heart your abode. Amen.
