09 August 2023 – Praise Powerbank – Part 4

Daniel 6:16 So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”

Praise God in the lion’s den. Daniel, an exile in Babylon, was thrown into the lion’s den for his faith. His prayer life found him in the burrow of rapacious hungry beasts. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to His God, just as he had done before (Daniel 6:10b). Even in a pagan land as a caged captive he gave thanks to His God. Thanksgiving and praise did not leave his heart and lips. Praise and worship are from the overflow of a grateful heart. He had a bucket load of complaints, but three times a day Daniel got down on his knees to thank God. Praise changes the atmosphere of our mind. Praise alters the temperature of our environment. Praise is the powerbank of our soul.

Daniel rose up to be a distinguished officer in the Medo-Persian Empire. He became the Head of the Operations of the entire kingdom (Daniel 10:3). Promotion and career growth did not steal his time of prayer time. He never missed his prayer routine. When he was condemned for his faith and hurled into the cave of hungry lions, praise turned into a fire wall of protection for Daniel. “My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king” (Daniel 6:22). The missing figure in the picture Bible on Daniel 6 is the angel of the Lord binding the mouth of the lions. The mouths of the monstrous beasts were bound and they could not harm Daniel.

Praise will deliver us from slander, slur and the serpentine spirit. Praise is the powerbank that will electrocute the forces that are trying to hurt, destroy or derail us.

Praise delivers us in the lion’s den:

1.     Tame: Praise tamed the ferocious lions into pussycats. The thankful and grateful spirit of Daniel brought an angel into the den before he was tossed into the hole. People, politics or prejudice could be the ravenous beasts trying to devour you. Pull out the praise powerbank and start worshiping. Praise tames the lions into kitty-cats.

2.     Trespass: Praise and thankfulness builds a hedge of protection around us. The plots of the evil doers and the ploy of the demons cannot touch the heart that bubbles with gratitude and the mouth that is filled with praise.

3.     Torture: Praise turns the den of torture into the dawn of testimony. The king signed a decree, “I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel” (Daniel 6:26b).

The powerbank of praise turns the lion’s den of torture into a testimony.

Daniel 10:27 “He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, when the world tortures us for our faith, give us the tenacity of Daniel to pull out our praise powerbank and worship you.  Amen.
