14 September 2026 – Hidden Power – Part 5

Habakkuk 3:3a-4 His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of His praise. His splendor was like the sunrise; rays flashed from His hand, where His power was hidden.

Even on a cloudy day we feel the effects of the sun. About 80% of the UV rays penetrate through the clouds. Hence even on a cloudy day the clouds only scatter the sunlight and do not block them completely.

The analogy draws parallel to the dark days and dull phases of our life when we cannot see the face or the favour of God. God’s love remains unchangeable and His faithfulness immovable. The Great Theologian of all times, Charles Spurgeon said, “God is too good to be unkind, God is too wise to be mistaken, and when you cannot trace His hand, you can trust His heart”. When the cloudy trials of love overcast His greatness trust His goodness.

While Job walked through the darkest deepest valley of death, he chose to trust in the omnipotence and omnipresence of the Lord. Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him (Job 13:15). He spoke faith in the most fearful and hopeless times – “I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God” (Job 19:25-26). Job was able to trust the heart of God even when he could not feel His hand.

It is easier to believe that the sun remains bright and glorious behind the clouds than to believe that God’s Word stands unshaken in the dark and stormy clouds of our trials. His splendor and grandeur are like the sun rays and His hand that is readily available to help, is powerful to deliver us from any peril.

Hidden Power:

  1. Test: A dreadful test or trial is an opportunity to manifest the power of the Almighty God and defeat the plans of the enemy.
  2. Trust: Trust in the power of God even when the symptoms persist and the problems ebb.
  3. Triumph: The secret of the triumph in a test is to trust His Word even when we cannot hear Him.

Trust in His heart when you cannot feel His hand.

Prayer: Father God, when the thick cloud of trial hides your face, I will still trust in your faithfulness. Amen.
