Habakkuk 3:3a-4 His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of His praise. His splendor was like the sunrise; rays flashed from His hand, where His power was hidden.
Solar energy can be stored. Short-term storage will last for a few minutes whereas long term storage can last for days or few weeks. Solar panels generate electricity everyday and store them in the solar batteries.
God’s Word is the light that gives us instructions and directions to live in safety and in success. Like the solar panel we must generate fresh spiritual energy every day. “For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.” (Psalm 36:9). Slacking in discipline a day will drain our spiritual battery and leave us drooping in the dark. Daily discipline of praise, prayer, feeding on God’s word and a regular routine of fasting are non-negotiables to be spiritually enlightened, equipped and enthusiastic.
We must search for the hidden treasures about the splendor of the King in His Word. Storing God’s Word by meditating on them, turning our ear to wisdom, humbling our hearts to obedience, seeking insight and searching the scriptures will edify our faith. Make time every day for a sunbathe in the Scriptures.
King David took time out to praise God seven times a day. Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws (Psalm 119:164). Daniel, the chief counsellor to the king of Babylon did not miss his prayer routine – He prayed 3 times a day (Daniel 6:10). In the midst of His very busy schedule, Jesus our Sovereign Saviour spent time with the Father very early in the morning (Mark 1:37).
“The Lord God is like the sun that gives us light. He is like a shield that keeps us safe. The Lord blesses us with favor and honor” (Psalm 84.11). The Lord God is our sun, our source and our shield.
Hidden Power:
- Sun: Spiritual charging is absolutely essential for our progress, protection and provision.
- Source: Prayer is our source of all power. David, Daniel and even the Son of God, Jesus, did not take a break from their prayer routine.
- Shield: God’s favour is a shield of safety and protection around us.
Make time every day to sunbathe in the Scriptures.
Prayer: Lord God, shine your light of wisdom, faith and favour over me. Amen.
