19 October 2026 – Eagle’s Wings – Part 5

Proverbs 17:10 A reprimand goes deeper into one who has understanding and a teachable spirit Than a hundred lashes into a fool.

Eagles are exceptional birds who have strong learning abilities. Eagles can learn from experience, remember successful hunting locations, and adjust their behaviour. They learn by observation. Young ones watch parents closely and learn the skills of approaching and hunting the prey. They also learn how to use their wings and respond to the changing climatic conditions. Eagles learn through experiences. Their tries and misses shape the hunting skills of an eagle. Experience makes eagles effective. Eagles have excellent memories. They remember productive hunting areas, nesting locations, landmarks, and patterns in their environment.

Another profound lesson from eagles is to remain humble and teachable at all times. Instruct a wise man, and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man, and he will increase his learning (Proverbs 9:9). Teachability makes us wise, discerning and prudent. Those who are quick to learn their lessons and remember not to repeat the same mistakes have an eagle mindset. The Bible calls the one who repeats his mistakes and who refuses to take correction – fools!

Before the Babylonian captivity which was due to the rebellion of the people, the Lord sent prophets to rebuke the stiffed-necked and stubborn generation but they refused to heed to correction. Again and again I spoke to you about it, rising up early and calling, but you refused to hear or answer (Jeremiah 7:13). They were born into slavery in Egypt but they sold themselves to shame and captivity by their own callousness into Babylon as they did not have a teachable heart.

The humble and teachable will learn to fly into the storm and soar above the storm into the stillness of His presence.

Calm in the Storm:

  1. Teachable: The teachable grow in the knowledge of God’s will and godly wisdom and understanding that the spirit gives.
  2. Transgression: The teachable will not easily fall into transgression, because they are willing to listen, learn, receive correction, and adjust their ways according to God’s Word.
  3. Trespass: The teachable will not trespass the ordinance of the Lord. There will be no known sin in their lives.

Teachability and humility gives us the thrust to soar above the storm.

Prayer: Jesus, show me Your ways, Lord, and lead me in Your will. Amen.
