21 October 2026 – Eagle’s Wings – Part 7

Deuteronomy 32:11-12 Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, that flutters over its young, spreading out its wings, catching them, bearing them on its pinions, the LORD alone guided him, no foreign god was with him.

An eaglet cannot dive into the storm as soon as it is born. The flight feathers grow as the eaglets stretch and exercise its wings. It practices by flapping, hopping, and moving its wings vigorously. Eagle stirs up its nest and encourages its eaglet to leave the security of the nest. As the eaglet attempts to fly, the parent eagle remains watchful, swooping underneath and catching it when necessary, teaching it to spread its wings and fly. Vigorous exercise develops strong wings. Eagles have broad wings with strong flight muscles, allowing them to generate lift and remain airborne and travel long distances without exhausting themselves.

Likewise, our faith feathers grow as we exercise the wings through patience and perseverance. As the eagle stirs up its nest and trains the eaglets to fly, the Lord moves us out of our comfort zone to develop the wings of faith. Our Heavenly Father will flutter over us like the mother bird spreading out His wings. He will swoop underneath and catch us when doubt and disbelief drag us down. He permits the cushion and cozy comforts to be removed and encourages us to fly in faith. A discomfort in our health, a difficult boss at work or a disturbing situation in our relationship are the twigs in the nest that poke us to leave the comfort zone.

The trials and tempests teach us to spread out our wings and learn to fly. The twigs that poke us out of our sweet spot and safe space will develop the flight feathers and strong wings.

Eagles Wings:

  1. Twigs: The uncomfortable twigs of crisis, challenges or changes encourage us to move out of our security blanket and learn to exercise our faith feathers.
  2. Teach: The Lord teaches us to spread out our wings and fly when we fall from the cliff.
  3. Tempests: The strong flight muscles of faith and the thick plumage of trust will enable us to dive into the tempest and soar above it.

Stay calm, be still and wait on the Lord.

Prayer: Dearest Holy Spirit, I will worship, watch and pray and win by waiting patiently for you. Amen.
