Numbers 20:8 “Take the rod; and you and your brother Aaron assemble the congregation and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it may yield its water.
“Thoughts are a commodity in the spiritual realm.”
Unspoken words are non-verbal communication such as thoughts, feelings, or messages conveyed through non-verbal cues like body language, facial expressions and silence. Even non-animate things have ears to hear our words of authority and they respond back with obedience.
The Lord God commanded Moses to speak to the hard rock in the desert. The rock heard the voice of authority and broke open. Sweet drinking water gushed out of the dry desert rock. The non-verbal response of the rock was by cracking open as it saw the feet of Moses advancing toward it. Jesus gave us authority to speak not only to the rocks but to the mountains that come our way. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them (Mark 11:23). The universe was voice activated. God spoke and the cosmos came into being. The God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not (Romans 4:17). Hence, in the spiritual realm, even the non-animate things have ears to hear and respond with obedience to our voice.
Speak to the mountain of fear, lack and sickness. Speak to anything that is a stumbling block to your calling and progress. Command it to go and throw itself in the sea. Don’t ask it to move to the side, command it to sink into the sea and disappear. The non-animate hindrances respond with non-verbal reactions.
Speak to the mountain:
- Wants: Speak to the exasperating lack and want – “My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory”. The lion’s cubs might be in lack, but not the children of the King of Kings.
- Worries: Speak to anxiety, fear and worry – The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid?
- Weakness: Speak to the weakness – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
The non-animate things hear us when we speak with authority.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, help me to speak to the mountains with authority as you did. Amen.
