John 4:14 “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst”.
Water brings life, renewal, and growth wherever it flows. Water sustains life. Ecosystem flourishes wherever water flows. Water provides energy and growth to plants. Its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump die in the soil, yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots like a plant (Job 14:8-9). Water can bring a dead stump back to life.
Jesus is the Living Water. Metaphorically, anyone who drinks from Him will never thirst. The thirst of the body, soul and the spirit can be satisfied only by the Living Water. The Living Water kills the ungodly fleshly desires and wants. The Living Water refreshes the soul with love, joy and hope. The Living Water feeds our heart with faith, truth and Godly values. Jesus the Living Water, satiates the body, refreshes the soul and rejuvenates the spirit. Further, our inner man is strengthened and will bubble from within. “The one who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him” (John 7:38).
The Living Water is found in God’s Living Word. Every page of the Holy scriptures reveals the truth about JESUS. So, open the Bible every day with a deep desire to learn more about Him and to know Him. God’s Word is like the scent of water to the soul and sweetness to the spirit. When we are saturated in the Word, the Living Water of God’s goodness will bubble out of us. The casual words we speak will become life changing conversations. Thirsty souls will be drawn towards the “Living Stream” that flows from us.
When Paul preached in Pisidian Antioch the whole city was touched by the gospel. On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord (Acts 13:44). Living Streams will attract, touch and transform the old, the young, the educated and the unschooled alike.
Jesus is the Living Water:
- Wearied: Pour the Living Water over the wearied and hopeless soul.
- Worried: Wash away worry and fear with the Living Water.
- Wilted: Water the wilting situation with the Living Water.
“The Living Water revives the wilted and wearied and turns worry into worship.”
Prayer: Jesus My Living Water, I will drink from your Word every day. Amen
