04 August 2026 – Days, Durations and Destiny – Part 6

Romans 15:4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

Forty days of consistent repetition physically rewires the brain through neuroplasticity. It transitions behaviors from requiring conscious effort in the prefrontal cortex to becoming automatic routines.

It makes sense as to why the Lord God kept Moses up the mountain for 40 days. God had to change his thinking and transition his conscious effort to be a godly example to an honourable prophet and pastor for the congregation of Israel. Neuroplasticity is the biological mechanism through which the brain learns new skills, forms memories, and recovers from injuries. The injuries caused by rejection, harmful words and abuse are reversed by rewiring the brain through the process of neuroplasticity.

Fasting is not a diet and a work-based ritual. It is a commandment that checks our spiritual growth and progress. The moment we feel spiritually drained or disconnected we must go on fasting and seek the Lord. 40 days of continuous repetition of our identity in Christ or our calling and the promises of God will rewire our brain and transform our mind to submit to the Holy Spirit. Carnality dies when we take a long fast to align ourselves with the Lord.

The face of Moses glowed when he came down from the mountain. Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him (Exodus 34:29). Noticeable transition happens when we soak ourselves in dedicated long fasts. We will change inside out and the exterior changes in our behaviour will be noticed by others around us. The pain of rejection and the desire for recognition was broken in Moses after his 40 days with the Lord.

Times and Seasons:

  1. Transition: The transition from behaviour changes to character building happens during long dedicated fasts.
  2. Transfer: Transfer of godly nature is imparted during a long and dedicated fast.
  3. Transform: Divine transformation happens when we seek the Lord in long and dedicated fast.

Dedicated long fasts break addictions and builds character.

Prayer: Father Divine, let your nature shine through me. Amen.
