Luke 15:4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?
Methods are specific techniques or procedures used to collect and analyze data. Methodology on the other hand is the overall strategy, rationale, and theoretical framework that guides the choices and the use of the methods. God’s power follows His presence.
God’s overall governing plan or methodology of redemption for humanity is to help, heal and honour. However, He might use different methods in the restoration process.
We have a God who seeks the lost. As a good shepherd who goes after his one lost sheep, Jesus the Good Shepherd traveled across the sea to deliver the demonic (Mark 5), walked miles to meet the Samaritan woman (John 4), and spent an evening with Nicodemus to ignite the truth of the gospel (John 3). As much as He preached to the multitudes, Jesus expended His time and efforts to go after the one lost soul. There are many reasons why a soul may be lost, but every lost soul is precious in the sight of God. The demonic might have left one open door of temptation and could have been barraged with a demonic army of 6,000. The Samaritan woman might have been an insecure, attention seeking or people pleasing woman and lost herself in trying to find love. Nicodemus, the teacher of the law, had head knowledge but no heart revelation. However, the Good Shepherd does not condemn, judge or rebuke but goes after the lost sheep and brings them back to the sheep-pen.
Our prayers for the lost will not go unanswered.
Jesus, the Good Shepherd:
- Sold: We have a Saviour who goes after those who have sold themselves to cheap pleasures, perversions and impurities.
- Stolen: We have a Deliverer who breaks the chains of deception, debauchery and dishonesty. Jesus chose to visit the house of Zaccheus to set him free from greed and curses.
- Self-Absorbed: We have a Redeemer who breaks the clutches of ego, pride and conceit and draws the affluent and the arrogant to the redeeming saving light.
Jesus, the Good Shepherd goes after the lost.
Prayer: Jesus My Saviour, Save, deliver and redeem my near and dear ones who are lost in the world. Amen.
