03 September 2026 – The Highway – Part 1

Isaiah 35:8 And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.

The Way of Holiness is a toll road —it comes at a cost, but the price is worth it! The word holiness in Hebrew is “qādôsh” which means to be separated, consecrated, or dedicated to God. The Lord God is holy because He is —unchanging, faithful, and will never go back on His Word. Jesus walked the Highway of Holiness and paved the way for us to follow in His footsteps. But like the Holy One who called you, be holy (1 Peter 1:15). Holiness is not an option but a command.

The Highway of Holiness that Jesus walked on manifested as love, kindness, grace, forgiveness, faithfulness, forbearance, persistence, gentleness, self-control and so on. Holiness is not just a Christian cliché or a concept that we believe and preach about but the lifestyle of Jesus. Jesus always chose to walk in love—even in the greatest trial of His life. At the Garden of Gethsemane, at the most difficult painful path of Jesus on the earth, He still chose to love rather than hate. When the Chief Priest, temple guards and officers came to arrest Jesus in the thick of the night, one of them (Peter), struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed Him (Luke 22:49-50). It is easy to respond with love when the road is smooth. However, the true test of love is when the road becomes bumpy and dirty and when love is repaid with hatred.

Even on the way to the cross, Jesus chose the highroad of love and touched and healed the ear of Malchus, who was probably bleeding to death.

The Highway of Love:

  1. Hurt: On the highway of holiness our response to hurt would still be love.
  2. Hate: Pray for those who hate you and walk in love.
  3. Horrendous: Repaying a hideous and horrendous deed with goodness and kindness is the highest form of love.

There is no hate, anger or revenge in the Highway of Holiness.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, help me repay hatred with love. Amen.
