04 September 2026 – The Highway – Part 2

Luke 19:41–42 As He approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over itand said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.

The Way of Holiness is a toll road —it comes at a cost, but the price is worth it! The word holiness in Hebrew is “qādôsh” which means to be separated, consecrated, or dedicated to God. There is graciousness on the Highway of Holiness. Kindness and compassion are the reciprocations on the road of holiness.

From the western slope of the Mount of Olives, there is a magnificent view of Jerusalem. Jesus was descending down the Mount of Olives after the triumphant entry into Jerusalem as the King. As the crowds were celebrating His entry, Jesus saw Jerusalem, the City of Worship, that was blinded to tradition and pride and He wept. Jesus wept for those who had rejected Him!

There were some sour memories for Jesus about the City of Jerusalem. Jesus drove out the money changes who had turned the Temple of the Lord into a den of robbers! (John 2:13–17). It was at Jerusalem that Jesus experienced the strongest opposition from the religious leaders. They attempted to trap Him with devious questions.  Jesus knew that He would be arrested, mistreated and unlawfully accused and crucified in the city. Yet, He was moved with compassion as He saw the full glimpse of the city from the vantage point. Although Jesus had more bad and sad memories than good ones, about the city of Jerusalem, He chose the highroad of grace and mercy and wept for the city. Jesus grieved for the vicious men who plotted against Him!

On the Highroad of Holiness, we must choose to pray for the stiff necked, hard hearted and those who are blinded to the truth. Grace and Mercy prevail over revenge and unforgiveness.

The Highway of Holiness:

  1. Persistence: Be persistent to show grace and mercy even to the ruthless and calloused.
  2. Patience: Impatience and intolerance are absent on the High Way of Holiness. Patience wins the race.
  3. Prayer: Pray for the blinded, wounded and calloused.

Mercy triumphs over justice on the Highway of Holiness.

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, make me tender hearted like you to pray for even the revilers and the rebels. Amen.
