06 September 2026 – The Highway – Part 4

Proverbs 24:3-4 By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established, through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.

The Way of Holiness is a toll road —it comes at a cost, but the price is worth it! The word holiness in Hebrew is “qādôsh” which means to be separated, consecrated, or dedicated to God. Wisdom, understanding and knowledge are found on the Highway of Holiness.

“Wisdom” is choosing now what we wish to enjoy later. It is sowing now to reap an abundant harvest. The choices and decisions on the Highway of Holiness will be investments into the future. The choice of thoughts, desires, conversations, company and entertainment will nourish our future to become fruitful. There will be no room for obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking on the Highway of Holiness. Wisdom will choose not to waste time in reels, unhealthy ruminations and regurgitating regrets. “Understanding” is application of the wisdom in the day-to-day life. Understanding will let go of offence quickly, refrain from judgmental discourse and be decisive in the conversations. Understanding will value people more than pride. Understanding is empathetical and not egoistic. “Knowledge” is simply enriching ourselves in the truth and the Word of God. Knowledge of the Holy One is understanding (Proverbs 9:10b).

A wise woman Jael put an end to the oppressive intruders by her wise choice and sound discernment. She did not hide the enemy in her tent but destroyed him. When Sisera, (the commander of the Canaanite army), fell asleep from exhaustion, Jael quietly crept up to him with a hammer and tent peg in her hand. Then she drove the tent peg through his temple and into the ground, and so he died (Judges 4:21). Wisdom wins over the demonic intruders of perversion, pornography, and pride that come to steal, kill, and destroy in private—and celebrates the victory in public. Wisdom’s choices, clear and prudent understanding, and the richness of knowledge add rare and beautiful treasures to our lives.

The Highway of Holiness:

  1. Will: Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is (Ephesians 5:17).
  2. Words: Wisdom refrains from speaking worthless and unwholesome words.
  3. Works: Wisdom invests now to harvest later.

Wisdom accumulates wealth on the Highway of Holiness.

Prayer: Sovereign Lord, fill me with the knowledge of your will, wisdom and understanding. Amen.
