11 October 2026 – Eight-2-Eight – Part 4

Psalm 119:164 Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws.

Habit formation is the psychological and neurological process by which behaviors become habits through repetition. The Psalmist would have disciplined himself to form the habit of praising the Lord seven times during the waking, active and conscious hours of the day. A template of praise-breaks at 8am, 10am, 12 noon, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm would develop the habit of praising the Lord 7 times a day.

At 8am, praise the Lord for His incomprehensible “Love”, at 10am praise God for His incredible “Grace”, at 12 noon praise Him for His unfathomable “Mercy” and at 2pm praise God for His life-giving “Word”.  What you focus on amplifies. For You have made Your word great according to all Your name (Psalm 138:2b). When we celebrate the Word and the promises of God, they grow, expand and dominate your thoughts, words and deeds. God’s promises of healing become more real than the symptoms we feel in our body. Praise will overpower the reality of our situation. As we praise the Lord for His Word and celebrate His promises, the foundations of our trust solidify. We stand on the “glory ground” of God’s sovereign governance when we trust in His Word and exalt His promises.

When we praise God for His Word and celebrate His promises, the Word, which is the double-edge sword, is activated. Reiterating God’s Word and thanking Him for His promises destroys fear, anxiety and worry. The Word of God is our weapon. Meditating on the Word of God and taking time to reaffirm that we believe in God’s Word more than the words of people or the threats of the devil destroys the diabolical forces of doubt and disbelief. Wield the Word against the negative thoughts by taking time to praise God for His promises.

Eight-2-Eight Praise-Breaks:

  1. Weapon: The Word is our weapon that must be polished with our praise.
  2. Wield: Wield the Word against the diabolical forces by taking time to praise.
  3. Win: We win the battle not by knowing the Word but by exercising the Word of God. Praise is the outward evidence of our trust in the Word of God.

Start the 7-times praise-break discipline from 8am-8pm.

Prayer: Father God, I will discipline myself to praise you 7 times every day. Thank you for your life-giving Word. Amen.
