2 Timothy 1:5-6 “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands”.
Fire Triangle are the three essential elements to ignite and keep the fire burning. Fuel, heat and oxygen—the three elements of the fire triangle—combine to initiate and sustain combustion, causing flames to ignite. Removing one of these will cause the fire to die out. The combustion material of wood, paper, oil, or gas – are the fuel; the heat is the energy source for the fuel to ignite and start the fire and oxygen is necessary to cause the chemical reaction of the combustion.
Allegorically, to fan faith into fire, we need the combustion material of God’s Word, the heat of the anointing of the Holy Spirit and the oxidizing agent of hope to cause the chemical reaction and keep the flames of fire burning. Sincere faith feeds of the Word of God and fans the faith with hope and fuels faith through believing. “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). It is impossible to receive anything from God without faith.
Faith is the door that moves us from the terrestrial to the celestial. If the door of faith is shut, we will be shortsighted by fear, evil foreboding and frenzy. Fear will quench the faith.
Jesus first fanned the faith of the sisters of Lazarus before He raised the dead man. Martha tried to stop Jesus when He asked the people to roll away the stone from the cave where Lazarus’s body had been laid. Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” (John 11:40). Believe and receive your miracle.
Flame your Faith:
- Feed: Faith grows by feeding on God’s Word.
- Fan: Hope should not grow cold – oxidize your hope.
- Fuel: Fuel the faith with the fresh oil of anointing every day.
Believe and receive.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I will believe that all things are possible with You. Amen.
