In agriculture and gardening, the health of the harvest is highly dependent on the genetic, physical, and physiological quality of the seed. High quality seeds have high germination, rapid growth and robust root system. Healthy seeds are disease resistant.
The Holy Scriptures use seeds as a metaphor to our thoughts, talk and testimony. Thoughts become words and words lead to actions. Thoughts grow into imaginations, interpretations and insights. Good thoughts are seeds of peace, prosperity and progress whereas bad thoughts are strife, stress and sarcasm. The thoughts we ruminate on is the process of sowing in the spiritual realm. From the fruit of their lips people enjoy good things, but the unfaithful have an appetite for violence (Proverbs 13:2). Thoughts of anger, unforgiveness and offence sow animosity and bear bitter fruits but thoughts of love, forgiveness and generosity sow righteousness and reap mercy. Our growth is limited by the seeds we sow in thoughts, words and deeds.
Thoughts are a commodity in the spiritual realm. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20). Our miracle starts in the spiritual realm before it manifests in the natural realm. David saw and spoke doom on the giant even before he released the stone from his slingshot (1 Samuel 17:46). Before David challenged the giant He defeated the giant with the thoughts of faith in his heart. The health of our harvest is highly dependent on the seeds we sow.
Healthy Seeds:
- Thoughts: Sow thoughts of faith, forgiveness and faithfulness and reap an abundant harvest. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. So, thoughts of purity, potency and prosperity will yield a mighty harvest of peace and progress.
- Tongue: Our tongue sows seeds today that we will harvest in future – so sow life, health and prosperity.
- Testimony: Our touch, influence and testimony are seeds that will yield harvest. Nothing will be hidden – the crop will soon stand up.
“Sow healthy seeds and reap an abundant harvest.”
Prayer: Gracious God, guide my thoughts, bridle my tongue and be glorified in my testimony. Amen.
